Jide Aje is from Nigeria and earned his Fine Art Degree from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He relocated to the U.S. to pursue a career in the creative design field and currently resides in Detroit, Michigan.
Jide’s drawings and paintings typically form a foundation unto which collage, texture, and other elements are layered. While West African motifs are used as a jumping off point in his works of art, Jide draws inspiration from a wide variety of themes and influences. One point of interest within his art is the traditional or pre-industrial age color palette, which he has expanded beyond its original and traditional utility.
While Jide incorporates traditional color schemes within his art, he also loves the use of bold and vibrant colors. And working from the viewpoint that culture is dynamic, Jide regards old symbols, colors, and textures and utilizes them to fit within a modern context. Exhibits of his works include: the Paul Roberson Cultural Center at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ; the National Conference of Artists in Detroit, MI; the Artpost Gallery in South Bend, IN; and Jackson Fine Arts in Washington, D.C.

Val ‘Nsenga’ Posey is a creative who divides her time as the Managing Member of Pink Tie Promotions LLC and making wall hangings and other fiber works for art connoisseurs. Exhibits of her batiks, fabric assemblages, tufted rugs and wall hangings include the Ft. Knox Art Show, the Missouri Craftsman Travelling Show, Missouri Crafts Council Travelling Show, Columbia Art League Spring Show, and the 24th Annual Designer Craftsman Show.
Collectors of Val’s art include Dr. Bertram Caruthers; Reginald Davis; Nedra Dickinson; Kenneth Krakauer; Dr. Thomas McKeel; Rev. Michael Murray; National Black United Front-Kansas City; Tom Stephens; Wilhelmina Stewart; and the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art.
One of Val’s missions is making art more accessible to children. This advocacy began during her undergraduate studies at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri; and bloomed during her 17+ year career in real estate management as a residential manager for three housing properties in the Greater Kansas City Area. This career leap, plus her 35 + years’ experience teaching young people (grades pre-K through 1st year college students), and her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, became the impetus for her work in designing a variety of platforms that have enabled the thousands of children and teens she has worked with to think about things that are lovely and to discover, develop, and share their unique gifts and talents in positive ways.
Especially dear to Val’s heart is working with special needs kids who live in care centers such as Niles Home for Children, Jackson County Juvenile Detention and Spofford Home: “Cultivating and enhancing their performance as productive citizens in this world is more than very rewarding,” Val states.
Awards and honors Val Posey has received for making a difference in the fields of art, education, and real estate include the Outstanding Service Award from the Conference on Children in1983; the A.R.M. of the Year Award from the Institute of Real Estate Management, Chapter 15 in 1988; and three proclamations as a “Real Winner in Cultural Arts” from the Missouri Lottery Commission, the Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri, and the Executive of Jackson County in1990. In 2002 Val also received The Woman of Courage Award in Fine Arts and Letters from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Kansas City, MO Alumnae Chapter. Val states that her most treasured honors are the love notes and expressions of appreciation she has received from students, parents, and colleagues like this one from a high school student: “My art teacher is the only reason I come to school.”
